Challenge
Design Exciter Compartment with severe environmental and code requirements for Nuclear application.
Solution
AMR PEMCO worked with GE & APS for 4 years to provide a custom solution to retrofit the largest exciter (as of 2015) in the world. Each building consisted of a 100t HVAC with custom base/plenum system, 9” (22.9 cm) thick walls to withstand desert heat, blast panels, over 5 miles (8 km) of I/O wiring plus conduit and cable schedules, and be salt spray certified for the salty environment created by the plant cooling towers.
